Sculptra® Aesthetic is an injectable dermal filler which has been FDA approved in the United States since 2004 for facial volume loss indications. It has been used off-label by physicians all over the world to enhance other parts of the human body including the buttocks for many years. Sculptra® is poly-L-lactic acid product which can be mixed with sterile saline and then injected into areas of the body which lack volume and definition. After the poly-L-lactic acid product is injected into your body, you will produce large amounts of new collagen where it was injected. This new collagen can lift and plump up a deflated buttock and even help with cellulite.
There are several advantages offered by Sculptra® over the Brazilian Butt Lift technique. First, Scupltra® is performed in-office as a nonsurgical procedure, which is minimally invasive involving tiny injections and no general anesthesia, surgery, cutting, or incisions of any type. Only a small amount of local anesthesia is required to safely numb up the treatment area, taking less than 30 minutes from start to finish, and there is no downtime. One can leave the office under their own power, without discomfort, and you can sit on your buttocks right away.
Sculptra® is a polymer of lactic acid, and as such, it is naturally occurring inside our bodies, as lactic acid. As long as you’re not allergic to lactic acid, it is safe for most people to have Sculptra®. Anyone who is not willing to undergo an invasive surgical operation like liposuction and fat transfer would also be a good candidate for Sculptra®. If you do not have enough fat to have the Brazilian or you have been told you’re not a good candidate due to low body fat or other medical conditions then you’re probably a great candidate for Scupltra®. If you’re a very busy personality and just don’t have the downtime of 4 to 6 weeks to recover from liposuction and fat transfer to the buttocks, then Sculptra® is probably just right for you!
Sculptra® uses your body’s capabilities to stimulate lots of collagen production. Collagen is a protein that can perk up deflated areas and make you look younger too! After injection, it takes 8 to 12 weeks for all this new collagen to be created in the buttocks. At first, the buttocks are swollen from the procedure, but you should expect all the swelling to go away, then over several weeks, you will see the volume and lift grow as you produce more and more collagen. Eating well, consuming at least 65 grams of protein daily, and supplementing vitamin C, Collagen, and L-Arginine may help in achieving better results. The results of Sculptra® create a noticeable butt lift and add a fair amount of volume to the buttocks, depending on how many vials are injected. Compared to Brazilian Butt Lift surgery, Sculptra® certainly leads to more natural looking results, with minimal recovery, and completely avoids surgery and risky anesthesia.
When you’re ready to schedule your consultation for Sculptra® Butt Lift, we can provide you with either a virtual consultation or an in-person consultation with our board certified nurse injector. As with any injectable cosmetic product, Trish Hultgren, FNP-C, our highly experienced cosmetic injector specialist, recommends preparing for your appointment several days in advance. Make sure to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil and vitamin E for one week before the procedure, but also not to drink alcoholic beverages less 24 hours before your appointment. Certain medications, supplements, and alcohol can cause you to bruise more easily around the injection site. To make an appointment to see our board-certified cosmetic nurse practitioner simply call our Scottsdale office at (480) 571-7625.
